During the 10-08-24 Butte County Board of Supervisors meeting, on Agenda 5.6 regarding the Gregory Howell Grading Permit, Peter “Biff” Durfee barks at opponents of the project telling them: “Don’t talk about speed, traffic, crime and ugliness because it does not matter.” His rant included a bizarre justification of his “expertise” due to the fact that he lived in the area for 12 years as a child before there were neighboring houses. Huh? Well, BIFF, you don’t live there anymore and now there are more houses that can be affected by these flooding issues than when you did used to live there. Now that you don’t live there, you don’t really know what you’re talking about so the person was right when they told you that. In the end, after hearing the alarming concerns of flooding and water contamination from residents near this proposed project, the board ended up voting 4-1 to allow the grading for the tow yard to move forward. The one person who was not in favor of it was Tami Ritter and she was the only one who had done her homework and research about the flood studies done in recent years which proved that flooding in that area remained unpredictable.
