New Orleans born Louis Moreau Gottschalk was an acclaimed 19th century pianist and composer. A pasquinade is a satire or lampoon. It was composed in Rio de Janeiro in 1869 and published in 1870.

To add variety to your next saxophone ensemble concert, invite a solo flute and a solo piccolo player to perform the “Pasquinade.”
