During the streamer’s Geeked Week fan event on Thursday, Netflix debuted the trailer for its upcoming Raimi-produced thriller Don’t Move, which premieres Oct. 25 and stars Kelsey Asbille and Finn Wittrock in a game of cat-and-mouse.

A grieving woman (Asbille) hoping to find solace deep in an isolated forest encounters a stranger (Wittrock) who injects her with a paralytic agent. As the agent gradually takes over her body, she must run, hide and fight for her life before her entire nervous system shuts down.

Don’t Move was filmed in Bulgaria last summer, during which the production was granted a SAG-AFTRA waiver to complete filming amid the Hollywood strikes.

The latest trailer has been released for Don't Move. Starring Yellowstone's Kelsey Asbille, Don't Move is an upcoming Netflix horror thriller about a serial killer who injects a young woman with a substance that will eventually paralyze her. This substance is time-delayed, however, so the film's lead must run and fight for her life as her body shuts down in stages. In addition to Asbille, Don't Move features a leading cast including Finn Wittrock, Daniel Francis, and Dylan Beam.

Now, Netflix has released the trailer for Don't Move. The trailer opens with a seemingly serene bird-filled soundscape being interrupted by a woman struggling through a field. While she is struggling to breathe, a voiceover reveals that the woman has been given a "special relaxant." This is later revealed to be a time-delayed paralytic agent that has increasing effects as each minute passes. The paralytic agent also affects the woman's voice, leaving her struggling to get help as she continues through the wilderness.

What This Trailer Reveals About Don't Move
Time And Sound Will Be Key Elements
Don't Move Kelsey Asbille sitting on the forest floor struggling
The Don't Move trailer incorporates several elements that will likely be central in the serial killer movie. For one, there is the element of time. Time comes into play in several ways within the trailer, most notably in the explanation of how the lead's 20-minute progression to paralysis works. It also features in the soundscape with the ticking and alarm of the main character's smartwatch, which ticks at the end of the trailer, indicating the beginning of her paralysis.

As a one-woman survival story, Don't Move puts everything on Asbille's shoulders, and if she shines, it could be great for her career.

Sound itself also seems to be a crucial element in Don't Move. About halfway through the trailer is when this drug's effect on the voice is revealed, and while the clip begins with the protagonist's labored and audible breathing, the trailer progressively features less and less sound. The noises that surround the otherwise-silent character are terrifying, including the rushing torrent of a river, which will pose a threat to the lead.

Our Take On The Don't Move Trailer
The Netflix Thriller Is A Great Chance For Kelsey Asbille To Shine
Luke Grimes and Kelsey Asbille hold each other in Yellowstone
While I am compelled by multiple aspects of the Don't Move trailer, the factor that will make or break the film is the lead performance by Asbille. She has shown her chops before by playing Monica Dutton in Yellowstone, but Don't Move is really her chance to break out into a leading film role, after largely being limited to TV and background characters. As a one-woman survival story, Don't Move puts everything on Asbille's shoulders, and if she shines, it could be great for her career.

When Sam Raimi’s name is attached to something, you know it’s going to be a winner. And now that we have the debut trailer for the Raimi-produced horror movie, Don’t Move, we can confirm that it looks absolutely terrifying. Starring Kelsey Asbille (Yellowstone) and Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story), the chilling movie centers around one woman’s by-chance encounter with a weirdo in a forest who, as per the synopsis, “injects her with a paralytic agent” (this is why we would pick the bear every time). The benevolent folks at Netflix have chosen to gift us with this first look at Don’t Move as part of their ongoing Geek Week festivities and the terror is certain to chill viewers to the bone.

Wittrock has always unsettled us since he appeared as the sociopathic Dandy in American Horror Story: Freak Show but he’s taking his villain era to new heights in the teaser for Don’t Move. The opening sequence focuses on Asbille’s character as she crawls and gasps her way across the forest floor while a voiceover of Wittrock’s character plays overtop informing her that she’ll soon not be able to move anymore. As he explains the order in which her body will quickly begin to shut down, the woman sets a timer on her watch for 20 minutes — the time in which she’s been told it will take until she’s completely paralyzed. Throughout the trailer, she hides from her pursuer and even finds a police officer who could help if only she hadn’t lost her voice. Pushing herself for survival, all she can do is lie still as her alarm goes off at the 20-minute mark before the teaser cuts out.

Who Else Is Involved With ‘Don’t Move’?

While the movie will also feature performances from Daniel Francis (Stay Close) and Skye Little Wing Dimov Saw (Red Sonja), the movie’s story really falls on the backs of Asbille and Wittrock’s top-tier work. The production is co-directed by Adam Schindler (50 States of Fright) and Brian Netto (Intruders), with TJ Cimfel (No Tell Motel) and David White (Chicago Noir) co-penning the script. Of course, the movie’s producer, Raimi, has long been one of the biggest names in Hollywood, having previously helmed incredible titles like The Evil Dead, A Simple Plan, the Spider-Man trilogy, Drag Me to Hell, and, most recently, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Over the past decade, the filmmaker has primarily turned his focus to producing projects including Boy Kills World, 65, and Umma.

You can check out the trailer for Don’t Move above and watch it on Netflix on October 25.

Asbille stars in the thriller as a woman caught in a cat-and-mouse game deep in the woods with someone who injected her with a paralytic agent. Here’s an official synopsis of “Don’t Move,” courtesy of Netflix:

A grieving woman hoping to find solace deep in an isolated forest encounters a stranger who injects her with a paralytic agent. As the agent gradually takes over her body, she must run, hide, and fight for her life before her entire nervous system shuts down.

Along with Asbille, “Don’t Move” also stars Finn Wittrock, Moray Treadwell, and Daniel Francis.

Adam Schindler and Brian Netto share directing duties on “Don’t Move.” T.J. Cimfel and David White pen the film’s script. As noted earlier, Raimi leads producers with Zainab Azizi, Alex Lebovici, Christian Mercuri, and Sarah Sarandos. Executive producers include David Haring, Roman Viaris, Ruzanna Kegeyan, Petr Jákl, Ara Kershishian, Michael Pessell, Roger Chenn, Marc Manus, Schindler, and Netto.

“Don’t Move” is Asbille’s first feature film since Taylor Sheridan‘s “Wind River” from 2017. Could more projects like this be on the horizon for her with the uncertain future of “Yellowstone”? Maybe, if this film clicks with Netflix subscribers. “Don’t Move” premieres on the streamer on October 25. Watch a trailer for it below.
