Lily Ebert, a 100-year-old Holocaust survivor whose story touched millions, has passed away. Born in Hungary, Ebert was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau with her family in 1944 when she was just 20. Four years ago, she gained widespread attention after seeking out the American soldier who liberated her during a death march in Germany.

Among those paying tribute was King Charles, who praised her for her “extraordinary resilience and courage.” Ebert had devoted her life to educating others about the Holocaust, reaching millions through social media with the help of her great-grandson, Dov Forman. Together, they built an audience of two million followers on TikTok, where she answered questions and shared her harrowing experiences.

In a heartfelt message, Dov Forman called her “the queen of our large, loving family” and said, “Her story touched hundreds of millions worldwide, reminding us of the resilience of the human spirit.” Public figures, including MP Wes Streeting and Holocaust Educational Trust’s Karen Pollock, hailed Ebert as an inspiration, describing her as a symbol of strength and determination.

Lily Ebert is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even a great-great-grandchild. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her funeral will take place in London, and she will be buried in Israel.
