Word 1
HOW IT ALL STARTED - THE BEGINNING . || Gen 14:1-16
Gen 14:1-11 In this chapter we see the consequences of the positions taken by Abram and Lot in the previous chapter. With Lot there was battle, with Abram there was rest. The war was between four kings on the one hand and five kings on the other. The four kings attacked the five kings. The cause of the war is the revolt of the five kings against Chedorlaomer they served for twelve years. The army of the king of Sodom and his allies were defeated. Many of those who escaped the sword died in tar pits. The cities were plundered and “all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food supply” were taken by the victors.

HOW IT ALL STARTED - THE BEGINNING . || Gen 14:1-16
Gen 14:12 Lot, after his inner conflicts as a result of his living in Sodom (2Pe_2:8 ), also became a prey of outer conflicts. He had chosen his part on earth and that was taken away from him. He also lost his freedom. Lot lived in Sodom, while he previously lived as far as Sodom (Gen_13:12 ). He had settled there; all his interests were intertwined with life in Sodom. If you make a choice to live in the world and live according to it, because its pleasures attract you, you should not expect to escape its bitterness. You will also experience that. Joshua said to the the children of Israel in Deu_30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

HOW IT ALL STARTED - THE BEGINNING . || Gen 14:1-16
Gen 14:13-16 Abram had no battle. He kept his distance from conflicts that did not concern him. He had nothing to do with the political situation around him. He lived “by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite”, which spoke of endurance, of which the oak was the symbol, and of vitality or fatness, which was the meaning of the word “Mamre”. Abram lived at the place where strength was obtained for battle. When he heard of the fate of Lot, he took action despite what Lot did to him. The only thing he has in mind was Lot's liberation. A brother may have wandered so far, but the love of Christ always compel. The fact that Lot ultimately learned nothing from his capture and liberation, but returned to Sodom, did not make Abram’s action any less significant. Any entanglement in which a brother finds himself must always lead us to take action to liberate him, regardless of how he lives on.
Personal Supplication
Father, grant me the grace like Abraham, to forgive and forgive again in Jesus' name. Matt 18:21-22
Instruction About Forgiveness 21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.
