Nov. 4, 1964 - President Lyndon B. Johnson called for a united America “to face the world as one” today as his smashing election victory took his popular vote margin near a record 15 million votes. Senator Barry Goldwater formally conceded at noon. Elected with President Johnson was Senator Hubert H. Humphrey of Minnesota, who in January will fill the present vacancy in the vice presidency.
