Slab Crabs - 26 Minutes Un-Looped Relaxing Crab Dance - No Music - Madeira, Portugal

A few days ago I was scouting out an area for a video when I noticed a series of concrete breakwater slabs that seemed to be a popular meeting place for the local crab population. I went back the next day and did my best to capture the crabs being, well, crabby.

The video starts out a bit slow because the crabs were all scared off when I approached to set up my gear. However, it doesn't take them long to reappear and get back to business.

I was rather pleased with the results, but I did end up facing a bit of a setback: I forgot my mic, wedged into a crevice in the rocks, and didn't realize my error until hours later. By the time I made it back, this site was completely submerged by the rising tide and strong waves were crashing over the rocks.

That was a hard lesson to learn, but I won't be making that mistake again!
