This is Part: [1 of 8] of a Mini-Series of Podcasts, based on Chapter 11 (i.e. Changing Economic Patterns) from the Book: Tragedy and Hope; A History of the World in our time, by the late Professor: Carroll Quigley.

"Professor Quigley, 1910-1977, was an Amarican Historian and theorist of the evolution of civilisations. He is remembered for his teaching work as a Professor at Georgetown University and his seminal works, The Evolution of Civilisations: An Introduction to Historical Analysis, and Tragedy and Hope; A History of the World in Our Time, in which he states that an Anglo-Americal Banking elite, have worked together for centuries, to spread certain values globally" – Wikipedia, as at: 9/10/24.

The Book: Tragedy and Hope is a significant 1348 page work of combined History and Geopolitics, comprising twenty chapters, whose headings are as follows:

1/ Introductoin: Western Civilisation in it's World Setting, 2/ Western Civilisation to 1914, 3/ The Russian Empire to 1917, 4/ The Buffer Fringe, 5/ The First World War 1914-1918, 6/ The Versailles System and the return to "Normalcy", 1897-1947, 7/ Finance, Commercial Policy and Business Activity, 1897-1947, 8/ International Socialism and The Soviet Challenge, 9/ Germany from Kaiser to Hitler, 1913-1945, 10/ Britain: The Backgrounf to Appeasement, 1900-1939, 11/ Changing Economic Patterns, 12/ The Policy of Appeasement, 1931-1936, 13/ The Disruption of Europe, 14/ World War 2: The Tide of Aggression, 1939-1941, 15/ World War 2: The Ebb of Aggression, 1941-1945, 16/ The New Age, 17/ Nuclear Rivalry and the Cold War, American Atomic Supremacy, 1945-1950, 18/ Nuclear Rivalry and the Cold War: The Race for the H-Bomb, 1950-1957, 19/ The New Era, 1957-1964, 20/ Tragedy and Hope: The Future in Perspective.

In my humble opinion, no personal library would be complete, without a well read copy of Tragedy and Hope.
