It is probably the most progressive congressional district in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Black Lives Matters signs appear in most every neighborhood and, in the controversial 2016 election when Hillary Clinton had managed to defeat Donald Trump by only five points, it had been Virginia’s 8th Congressional District, especially the County of Arlington that had delivered that victory margin that had made Virginia the only former state of the Confederacy to secede and vote against former President Trump. And, now with early voting in full-swing, progressives are prepared to not just get “a piece of the action”, but are saying, “Let’s do it, again”, as VA8 Dems gear up to elect the first Black woman President. But, behind the scenes, a grandson of a franchise martyr, whose father had been such a good friend of the King family that the phone rang from Atlanta at his family home shortly after it had been confirmed that Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. had been shot in Memphis, just as Rev. Ercel F. Webb had been pulled from the pulpit to take a call from Daddy King, after his wife had been shot while playing the piano at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, America’s Freedom Church, where the President had preached in the pulpit on MLK Day. And, perhaps that’s what it’s like when “ya ain’t really Black.”

Still, with more pressing matters than winning Miss Congeniality Contests, one pesky independent is busy as the devil in court, on issues ranging from challenging a transfer of city property in Richmond to Planned Parenthood for a nominal sum, and raising the issue of reasonable care owed to readers of newspaper publications in a lethal pandemic, to determining why the second most educated voters in America require a color-coded cheat sheet, with a prefilled dot to assist them in distinguishing between their Rs and their Ds, and challenging the arbitrary and capricious closure of public schools, which had resulted in Virginia being ranked in the top ten states for learning losses, which experts project it will take over a decade to repair. But, this week’s top issue being raised in court is the ownerhship of the virus that was a murderer of persons in their senior years.

“Well, Howard, as you know, Rev. King was a big Buber fan, and that whole transcend from the I to the Thou, and I thought I would check it out, but start with something small, like a pandemic, and work my way up from their, throwing myself into something bigger than myself. And you know this coronavirus any preacher will tell you is like way bigger than God,” remarked Major Mike Webb.
