📼 VIDEO DESCRIPTION
Carla Marie Faith, a former daycare owner in Colorado Springs, was arrested and convicted for hiding 26 children behind a false wall in her daycare facility. After receiving reports that Faith was exceeding her legal childcare capacity, police conducted a welfare check at her daycare, Play Mountain Place, and discovered the hidden children. Faith was charged with 26 counts of misdemeanor child abuse, attempting to influence a public servant (a felony), and obstructing a peace officer. Faith was found guilty on all charges and sentenced to six years in prison for attempting to influence a public servant, concurrent 10-month sentences for each of the 26 child abuse counts, and a $500 fine for operating a child care facility without a license. The children who were hidden in the basement experienced significant trauma, including increased aggression and anxiety, ongoing sleep issues, and fear of the dark. Many required ongoing counseling, and child psychiatry experts testified that the children were at high risk for long-term emotional, psychiatric, and medical problems due to their experiences.
