The Importer Security Filing (ISF), also known as the 10+2 rule, is a crucial requirement for importers when bringing goods into the United States. It is designed to enhance security measures and ensure the safety of the supply chain. In this video, we discuss how to file an ISF for a skin care set.

To file an ISF, the first step is to gather all the necessary information. This includes the details of the shipper, consignee, manufacturer, and buyer, as well as the Harmonized System (HS) code for the product. The HS code determines the classification of the product and helps Customs officials apply appropriate duties and taxes.

After gathering the required information, the ISF can be filed through the Automated Broker Interface (ABI) or a licensed Customs broker. It is important to file the ISF no later than 24 hours before the vessel departs for the US port of destination to avoid penalties and delays.

In addition to filing the ISF, obtaining a Customs bond is essential. A Customs bond acts as a financial guarantee that ensures compliance with Customs regulations and payment of duties and taxes. Depending on the importing frequency, you can obtain a single-transaction bond or an annual continuous bond.

Once the ISF and Customs bond are in order, the skin care set will arrive at the US port of entry. Customs authorities may choose to examine the shipment for compliance. It is important to have complete and accurate documentation and to ensure the contents of the shipment match the information provided in the ISF and other import documents.

If the Customs examination goes smoothly, the skin care set will be cleared for distribution. At this stage, you can proceed with arranging transportation and delivery of the goods to your desired location. It is important to keep all records and import documents for future reference and compliance requirements.
