"The most consequential for all of us, the most existential challenge that faces humanity is climate change. And that is where the UN system has joined forces with the secretary general on really pushing for the change that we need to keep our planet alive, to keep it in a healthy space for both humans and animal life.
And that is, you know, what is clear is that there are solutions. There is a path that we just need to keep emissions or cut emissions to the extent that we can keep the 1.5 degree limit that was agreed years ago in Paris and 2019 alive. It's within grasp, but it's edging closer to the point of no return. So we're really calling for urgent, urgent action and a dramatic shift away from the dependence on fossil fuels and towards a reliance on renewable energy. And we're really encouraged that we're already seeing that shift. We're seeing that renewables are booming. We're seeing costs plummeting. We're seeing governments realizing the benefits in cleaner air and more jobs, but also energy security and an increased access to power. So again, moving from this reliance on fossil fuels to a dependence on clean, renewable energy, that's what we're pushing for as the real centerpiece to achieving our goal of keeping our planet safe and healthy for human life."
