Monday, October 7 marks one year of war between Israel and Hamas.
The tension in the Middle East has escalated in that year, and many attacks are underway on the eve of the remembrance. Israel sent air strikes to Beirut and Gaza over the last week, killing a Hezbollah leader and potentially his successor.
Nearly 100 hostages remain in Gaza, with less than 70 believed to be alive. Israel has faced multiple attacks including missiles from Iran and Hezbollah, explosive drones from Yemen, fatal shootings and stabbings.
