Thousands protest in Hungary demanding end to state media ‘propaganda’

Thousands of Hungarians protested outside the state television headquarters, accusing the government of using it as a “propaganda machine” and calling for independent public media.

The rally, led by the opposition TISZA party, targeted Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s control over media, with party leader Peter Magyar criticizing biased coverage.

TISZA, which has 39% support, poses the biggest challenge to Orban ahead of the 2026 elections, Reuters has reported.
