Hardy’s previous two comic book tentpoles, 2018’s “Venom” and 2021’s “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” both opened at the start of October. The first “Venom” film, directed by Ruben Fleischer, grossed $856 million at the worldwide box office, while the Andy Serkis-directed “Let There Be Carnage” earned $502 million globally amid the pandemic.

In the post-credits scene of “Let There Be Carnage,” Hardy’s Eddie/Venom were teleported into the MCU and saw Tom Holland’s Peter Parker on a news broadcast. Eddie/Venom then appeared in the post-credits scene of 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home”; they’re put back in their universe — but not before leaving behind a piece of symbiote.

“Venom: The Last Dance” hits theaters Oct. 25.

Sony just dropped the final trailer for Venom: The Last Dance and in it, our protags Eddie and Venom meet the new guy in town, err outerspace enemy, Knull; a beastly dude whose preferred battle arena from what we see here is on top of a jet. But don’t say his name out loud, for like Beetlejuice, it should not be uttered.

“My home…has found us,” Venom warns Eddie.

“Who sent that thing?” Eddies asks.

“My creator,” answers Venom, “We have something he needs.”

Lots more out-of-control body comedy in this one with flinging food and Eddie’s (Tom Hardy) erratic actions, which includes hitting a dude while he’s peeing. As always, Venom made him do it.

Pic’s blurb: Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham also star.

The film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Marcel, Hardy and Hutch Parker.

The franchise to date has grossed $1.36 billion through two movies. Last Dance is getting a China release, which only the first movie had, grossing there $270M. Sony is billing it as the last title in the trilogy…until it makes a ton more cash.

Previously, Marvel teased Venom and Eddie's connection to the larger MCU when they were last seen relaxing on a beach before being mysteriously pulled into the MCU during a post-credits scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). However, in Venom: The Last Dance the storyline returns to Venom’s own world, steering clear of any direct crossover with Spider-Man.

While many were hoping for a Spider-Man and Knull face-off, this movie seems to revolve around Knull’s invasion of Earth, as he sends an army of symbiotes to hunt down Venom and Eddie while they are also being pursued by a group of scientists. Knull is the creator of all symbiotes including Venom, Riot and Carnage — bringing a new level of menace to the story. His character is an ancient being who wields immense power, making him a formidable adversary within the broader Spider-Man lore. Knull's ultimate aim is to capture Venom, who has evolved beyond a mere monster, and to rid him of the light and humanity that now reside within him.

Fan reactions were more dubious than positive. “Hope they don’t waste knull like they did with Carnage,” said one. “Venom trailers never disappoint. It's the movie that is the problem,” said another. “This film looks quite stupid, can't wait to watch,” commented one more. A few fans loved the trailer but expressed their concerns about the cinematized version of the character “Got my hopes up about Carnage and was disappointed. They absolutely better not fuck up Knull. Like holy shit. This just got me VERY excited for the move.”

As the movie approaches its release, fans are brimming with anticipation for the epic showdown between Knull and the symbiotes. While the absence of Spider-Man may be unexpected, the focus on Knull’s battle with Venom promises a gripping finale to the trilogy. Are you ready to watch it?

In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance.

The film is directed by Kelly Marcel from a screenplay she wrote, based on a story by Hardy and Marcel. The film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy and Hutch Parker.

The last chapter of Tom Hardy's Marvel anti-hero gets previewed in the final Venom: The Last Dance trailer. Nearly three years after his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Hardy is getting ready to swing back to the big screen one last time as Eddie Brock in Venom: The Last Dance. While time will tell what the future has in store for Sony's Spider-Man Universe after 2024, Hardy's Venom threequel has been confirmed to be the conclusion of his run.

Venom: The Last Dance is nearly a month away from its theatrical release, as Sony Pictures is reaching the final stretch of the Marvel film's marketing. Almost three months after the debut of the first one, Sony Pictures have released the final Venom: The Last Dance trailer, giving a closer look at Hardy's upcoming Marvel adventure and seemingly teasing Knull - the creator of the symbiotes and god of darkness - as the film's big villain. Check it out below.

Kelly Marcel, who penned the first two Venom movies, is making her directorial debut with Venom: The Last Dance, which she co-wrote with Hardy. New additions to the Venom: The Last Dance cast include Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, and Clark Backo.

Venom: The Last Dance's New Trailer Makes Venom's Death Look Way More Likely

While Sony Pictures has been keeping Venom: The Last Dance story details under wrap for the most part, the final trailer strongly suggests that a popular Marvel theory is coming to fruition. Since the movie previews show the plot leaning into the angle of a grand finale for Hardy's Marvel character, Sony Pictures clearly wants the Venom trilogy to go out with a bang. If they truly want to have a massive conclusion to this saga, it wouldn't be shocking if Venom: The Last Dance is setting up the symbiote's death, as it appears to repeatedly tease the possibility.

The Venom: The Last Dance cast will officially include the character of Knull, who is arguably the biggest villain that the trilogy finale could set up against Eddie and the Venom symbiote. While time will tell who is actually playing Knull, having the symbiote face off with its creator and perhaps die in a heroic sacrifice in order to defeat Knull would be a shocking but powerful ending. The bigger twist would be if somehow Eddie and the symbiote together die while taking down Knull once and for all.

The other scenario is that the symbiote dies on its own, forcing Eddie to now have to go back to living by himself, bringing everything full circle for Venom: The Last Dance and where the character started in the first Venom movie. If Eddie survives, it also leaves the door open for him to return in future films in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, assuming there are any more films coming after Kraven the Hunter. But for now, the world can catch Hardy's final outing as the Marvel icon in Venom: The Last Dance.
