Cast me not off in the time of old age

Psalm 71 is a psalm of praise and David’s prayer for deliverance from his enemies. In Psalm 71 we see David as an older man that has experienced much in his life. He is a man that has faith in God and trusts in God. He has seen God deliver him from his enemies and other trials and through everything he has experienced in his life, the psalmist is readily willing to praise God and rejoice in the LORD. Despite his age, the David knows that the LORD God of Heaven has not forsaken him and has kept him here on earth for a reason. Therefore, the psalmist looks forward to continuing to serve God despite his age, he is not willing to just go and sit somewhere, he is up and active for the LORD.
