Here’s my in-depth kiwi design comfort battery head strap review… finally! For those of you who saw my Kiwi Design battery strap vs Bobovr M3 Pro video I posted a while back, this right here is the first of 3 reviews I will be doing as a sequel to the spending spree I went on in that video…

For anyone who missed it, you can go back and watch it here: https://youtu.be/5yuqdZXaU4s
Basically the point of the video was to do some consumer research to find the best Quest 3 headstrap that offered an upgraded experience whilst using the Meta Quest 3 without costing a fortune like the Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap

For those who want to grab yourself a Kiwi head strap after watching today, here are the Amazon links to do so:

00:00:59 - Why I Got the Kiwi Design Battery Strap
After buying the Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap, many viewers suggested I check out third-party options that are cheaper but offer similar features. On Amazon, I found they're about 50% of the price with good reviews. So, I decided to test the Kiwi Design Battery Strap for Quest 3 to see if it's actually better.

Pros of the Kiwi Design Comfort Strap with Battery
00:01:40 - First Impressions and Features
The first thing I noticed was the fit. The strap has a comfortable cradle with padding that sits nicely on your head. It has extendable arms and a click wheel for easy adjustments.

00:02:00 - Flexible Hinges
A standout feature compared to the Elite Strap is the flexible hinges in the arms—a feature Meta didn't include. These hinges let you lift the arms to position the headset comfortably, then lower and tighten them for a perfect fit.

00:02:34 - Glasses-Friendly Design
This design is especially great for those who wear prescription glasses in VR. It's a unique feature that sets it apart from the Elite Strap.

00:03:10 - Extended Battery Life
Another advantage is the extended battery life. The battery sits at the back of the strap. I got about 2 extra hours of gameplay, and it's lighter than the Elite Strap.

00:03:48 - Fits in the Carrying Case
It fits inside the Meta Quest 3 Carrying Case just fine. Even though it's a bit bulkier, I can leave it on the headset and travel with it, no problem.

00:04:15 - Sweatproof Padding
One pro is the sweatproof padding. Made of a rubbery material, it's easy to clean with an antibacterial wipe. It doesn't soak up sweat like fabric would, which is great if you do workouts in VR.

00:04:40 - More Features at Half the Price
Compared to the Elite Strap, the Kiwi offers more: comfort padding, flexible arms, and sweatproof material. Plus, it's half the price. They use similar materials, so Meta, what's up?

00:05:16 - Intuitive Installation
Installation is intuitive. Everything is straightforward when you open the box. The arms clip on like other straps, and there's a velcro piece for the head strap that attaches before the facial insert. No guesswork needed.

Cons of the Kiwi Design Comfort Strap with Battery
00:05:50 - Installation Challenges
While the installation is intuitive, it's a bit tougher. The extra hinges make the arms feel flimsier compared to the Elite Strap. Removing it feels like you might break the arms, so I hold my breath a little.

00:06:20 - Difficult Velcro Tab
The velcro tab is made of stiff rubber and is quite large, making it hard to fit under the groove on the headset. I had to really push it in. Not a deal-breaker, but it could be easier.

00:07:10 - Bulkiness
A drawback is the bulkiness. It's bulkier in every way: thicker battery at the back, external click wheel, and larger head cradle due to padding. While it adds comfort, it makes the strap bigger. The hinges add extra thickness too.

00:08:30 - Charging Differences
Charging works differently than the Elite Strap. With the Elite Strap, the headset dynamically switches power sources. With the Kiwi Strap, you always see the charging symbol, like it's plugged into the wall. Meta's method might be more efficient.

00:09:54 - Final Thoughts
Overall, I really like the Kiwi Comfort Strap with Battery. It increases comfort compared to the regular and Elite Strap.
