Summary: Eighth Air Force activity during World War II. Highlighting the B-17 bomber, MEMPHIS BELLE, selected for tour of USA after completing 25 missions. Combat missions and tour scenes. Reel 13: 1) Aerial scene taken from bomb bay of a large coastal city, bomb falling and bursting in target area. 2) ALS smoke rising from target. 3) PS King and Queen of England walk across area to B-17 stationary (MEMPHIS BELLE) and talk to crew. 4) CU King George talking to crew. 5) CU queen talking to mechanics. 7) PS large formation of B-17's overhead. 8) MS red cocker spaniel on top fuselage of B-17. 9) MS crew lining up in front of plane. 10)PS B-17's overhead. 11) MS's same as scene 6. 12) MS king, queen, generals, VIP's walk away 13) PS B-17's approach for landings. 14) MS same as scene 4. 15) MS same as scene 5. 16) MS King George, USAF generals watch ship. 17) LS B-17 parking area, several scenes. 18) LS B-17's taxiing from parking area. 19) PS B-17 taxiing. 20) AS flak bursts. 21) LS three planes, B-17 and two Spitfires fly low over field, Spitfires pull up sharply, B-17 continues over camera. 22) Aerial formation of B-17's. 23) Coverage of MEMPHIS BELLE and crew on the final day before leaving land for home: Gen. Devers and Gen. Eaker talk to crew of plane; interviews by BBC; men in plane; mascot, a Scotty dog named Stuka; farewell ceremony; plane taxis; fly by in final salute to field escorted by two Spitfires; generals inspect plane and crew. 24) PS B-17's overhead. 25) MS men load bombs on trailers at bomb dump. 26) CU putting fins on bombs.
