Russian Defence Ministry reports on repelling AFU attempt to invade Russian territory in Kursk region (4 October 2024)
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the operation to neutralise an enemy group, which broke into the territory of Kursk region.

The Sever Group of Forces continues the offensive operation and engaged formations of 22nd, 41st 115th mechanised brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 95th Air Assault Brigade of the AFU, 1st National Guard Brigade, 36th Marine Brigade, as well as 103rd and 129th territorial defence brigades near Daryino, Lyubimovka, Novy Put, Pokrovsky, and Plekhovo.

Over the past 24 hours, the Group's units have repelled two counter-attacks of the enemy in the direction of Lyubimovka, Olgovka, and Plekhovo.

As a result, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost up to 30 troops killed and wounded.

Moreover, with the support of Army Aviation and artillery fire, five AFU attempts to break through the border of the Russian Federation towards Novy Put were foiled.

The enemy sustained losses of more than 30 troops killed and wounded, one armoured fighting vehicle, and two motor vehicles.

Army Aviation and artillery strikes inflicted losses on manpower and hardware clusters of the 22nd, 41st, 61st, 115th mechanised brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 80th and 95th air assault brigades, 1st National Guard Brigade, 36th Marine Brigade, 103rd, 112th, 116th, and 129th territorial defence brigades of the AFU near Bogdanovka, Bondarevka, Daryino, Kositsa, Kolmakov, Knyazhy Pervy, Loknya, Lyubimovka, Lebedevka, Martynovka, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Novoivanovka, Novy Put, Orlovka, Plekhovo, Pokrovsky, Pravda, Russkoye Porechnoye, Sverdlikovo, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye.

Operational-Tactical Aviation and Missile Troops delivered strikes in Sumy region at concentration areas and reserves of the 21st, 41st, 47th, 115th mechanised brigades, 1st National Guard Brigade, 82nd, 95th air assault brigades, 1st National Guard Brigade, 101st, 103rd, 106th, 129th territorial defence brigades near Belovody, Bondarevshchina, Belaya Beryoza, Belokopytovo, Zhurovka, Katerinovka, Kislaya Dubina, Loknya, Miropolye, Mirlogi, Nikolayevka, Pavlovka, Petrovskoye, Obody, Pavlovka, Sukhodol, Sumy, Khoten, and Yunakovka.

Over the past 24 hours, the AFU losses amounted to more than 350 troops, six armoured fighting vehicles, as well as three artillery guns, including one French-made Caesar self-propelled artillery system, one U.S.-made M777 towed howitzer, three motor vehicles, three electronic warfare stations, and one counterobstacle vehicle.

Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost more than 20,200 troops, 135 tanks, 66 infantry fighting vehicles, 98 armoured personnel carriers, 870 armoured fighting vehicles, 580 motor vehicles, 165 artillery guns, 33 MLRS launchers, including eight of HIMARS and six of MLRS made by the USA, nine SAM launchers, five transport-loading vehicles, 43 electronic warfare stations and nine counter-battery radars, three air defence radars, 20 engineering and other vehicles, including 12 counterobstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, and two armoured recovery vehicles.

The operation to neutralise the AFU units is in progress.
