The Longshoremen Union And Their Spokesman Need To Read The Room

Posted • October 4, 2024: Workers should be paid well. Our country should have a strong middle class where families can enjoy comfortable lives. There should be jobs that enable men to support their family on one income if their wife chooses to stay home with their child. Those are all important conservative concepts. Laying that groundwork, one might think this longshoreman strike is justified. I strongly disagree. Many longshoremen are making more than ER Doctors who have to go to school for 10 years. Longshoremen are doing a low skill job. They are being more than fairly compensated for this work. A couple of people have asked this. 1. $25 is starting & after 6 yrs increases to $30. - 2. They work 12 hour shifts (6 hours on & 6 off) They work 60-80 hrs/wk. - 3. so starting for no college: 40 hours x $25 = $1000 -- 4 hours OT - $1650 -- $2650 per week = $137,800 -- STARTING.

On top of all of this, American ports are rated some of the least efficient in the world. So, these workers are very well paid and pretty slow. This is how your job gets automated. Lots of people are very unhappy with the Longshoremen and the strike. The timing of that and the devastation of Helene couldn’t be worse. On top of all of this, they are threatening to take America hostage right after a major natural disaster. They look very very tone deaf. Read the room. It's also very hard to elicit sympathy when you are making six figures while many Americans can't afford gas and groceries. -- EXPOSED: Harold Daggett, the president of the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA), who has publicly stated intentions to “cripple” the U.S. economy with the port strike, owns a 76-foot yacht and a Bentley, with an annual salary exceeding $900,000.

Despite being implicated in RICO charges, he was acquitted following the suspicious death of the primary witness against him, known mobster Lawrence Ricci, whose body was discovered in a decomposing state in a car trunk in New Jersey. This case has added to the controversial persona surrounding Daggett, especially given his ties to organized crime which, although alleged, have not been legally substantiated due to the lack of witnesses or evidence following Ricci's death. Finally, they have the world's worst spokesman. He is cocky, over compensated and an overall menace to the cause. His sons are also making big money as part of the Union leadership, so that is a whole mess of nepotism. If Harold Daggett and Randi Weingarten got married they could birth the uber union boss antichrist who would finally turn public opinion against unions. Quite literally, the worst people in America run the Unions.

At some point in the future- our ports will be automated. The longer it takes, the longer we will be at a disadvantage. After the way the longshoremen acted this time, that will be sooner rather than later. Stock up? With what money? You're assuming that people who are already in debt and have used up their cash reserves have the ability to stock up? The dock workers have definitely misread the room on this one because the American people will have to shift to "survival mode" if the economy gets worse. If they're looking for sympathy to their plight it's falling on deaf ears. Everyone is hurting already and they WILL take it out on the first obstacle in their path. Horrible timing…horrible call. I will not support mobsters that want to cripple America. Things are bad enough for Americans already. Crying about a job that pays you six figures is going over like a lead balloon.
