Comparing Cameras Outdoors Under $200. This was 2019 so things may change.
Comparing 2019 era cameras under $200 Sony CX405 9MP, Canon R800 3MP, Eken H9R 4MP, and a Samsung S5 16MP Smart Phone. Watch for color, then stabalization, then zoom, and close ups.
I ended up always using the Sony. The heavier phone would be my 2nd place but lacks a good zoom and bad close ups. The Canon's stabilization isn't quite as good as the Sony but the color can be corrected using a pale blue piece of paper for setting white balance and 3 mp image theory doesnt actually cut it. No color adjusts were made here on any recordings. The edited MP4 export file was reduced from 24 mega bits per second to 6 mbs. Bit rates effects picture quality when the camera is moving but cost a lot in file size. I use 1080P 60 frames per second and export to average 6 mps as best balance for my jittery hand held videos using the FREE Shotcut Editor. I recommend the tiny $50 Eken wide angle camera for car mounted video. I once spent a year near Hollywood so trust me.
