No Money for Hurricane Destruction but Billions for War

In many ways, the response of the US government to the 500 mile swath of destruction of Hurricane Helene shows that the war is coming home. Compare the destruction made by American bombs launched on civilians in Lebanon, Gaza, the West Bank and Ukraine, with the destruction in the mountains of North Carolina and the American Southeast.

What are our priorities, and whom does our government represent? The U.S. has dealt with extreme weather throughout our history, and at one time we focused on a national mobilization to protect citizens, and to foster innovation to create protective infrastructure.

So the question again is: War or Peace? What should be done?

What about building infrastructure, rather than destroying human life?

The Director of FEMA has stated that FEMA is "out of money" for Helene and Congress is considering returning to vote on supplementary funding, Some political forces are comparing the money spent for the financial beneficiaries of the illegal migrant caper to that available from FEMA for the hurricane:

But while they debate, Reuters reports on September 26, 2024 that "Israel Says It Has Secured $8.6 billion aid package", and in April, sources note that the U.S. allocated $6.18 billion to Ukraine for its 5th supplementary aid bill -- which adds up to $175 billion for the war in Ukraine since February, 2022.

What are our priorities?
