Canaan the Son of Ham & Canaan the Land of Promise

In the ninth chapter of the book of Genesis, are we faced with one of the most controversial stories in all of the Holy Bible. For this section of God's Word has been used and abused to justify the African slave trade and to excuse all the ill treatment perpetrated against blacks in the Western Hemisphere going back for at least the past 400 years. And this difficult passage of scripture is known as the “Curse of Canaan.” But if Canaan was cursed, then why did God set aside the Land of Canaan as the Promised Land for the children of Israel to inherit?
