In this Vlog I share a video of catching toman fish using traditional fish traps
A glimpse of toman fish:
Toman fish is the name of a type of fish that belongs to the snakehead family (Channidae). Physically, this fish looks like a snakehead fish. This part of the stomach is white which differentiates it from other cork species. The largest size can reach 1 meter, making this fish the largest predatory fish.
The toman fish in English is known as the red snakehead, redline snakehead refers to its body color when young, or the Mabar snakehead. The name snakehead refers to the shape of its head which resembles that of a snake. While its scientific name is Channa micropeltes.
This fish is an omnivorous fish or eats everything. Toman fish fry eat algae, detritus and microorganisms, while adult fish tend to be carnivorous and eat crustaceans, small fish, shrimp and frogs. Large fish are known to eat birds and mice.
