China’s economic rise over the past few decades has been nothing short of remarkable, transforming from an agrarian society into a global manufacturing powerhouse. This first part of a series of videos exploring how China used different economic models available in its arsenal to create a hybrid breathing living model. From its own experience from a long history of trade dating back to the ancient Silk Road, together with western economic models to create its own unique approach to governance, trade, and economic management. China was successful in adapting and blending selectively these tools with its own unique political and social framework to fuel its remarkable growth. There is much valuable lessons for developing nations wanting to chart their own success story. Central to this success has been the strategic use of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and the establishment of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), which played pivotal roles in attracting capital, technology, and expertise from abroad.
This period of rapid development offers a rich tapestry of lessons for developing nations seeking to chart own paths to prosperity. By analyzing the Chinese experience, the aim was to uncover practical strategies that can be adapted to other nation’s contexts to foster sustainable development and economic progress.
