I always enjoy buying accessories and add-ons for my stuff and so I decided I needed a side grip for my Sony Alpha ZV-E10 camera, having already purchased a cage and top handle. Looking around on Amazon the prices seemed to range between about £25 and £75. I turned to AliExpress to see if a cheaper solution could be found and I was not disappointed. I found this side grip for just £15.43 including shipping to the UK. Although I use it with the camera cage fitted to myZV-E10 it should work with any other standard camera cage.

The handle arrived in a plain unbranded cardboard box with inside the grip itself together with a mini screwdriver and screw. Also included and housed inside a magnetic slot built into the grip was the Allen key used to adjust the position of the side mounting bar.

Build quality seems fine, better than fine in fact, and on a par with the posh rivals costing several times the price. The body of the handle is made from a robust aluminium alloy with the finger grips being from what seems to be carbon fibre. The Allen key and the adjustment mechanism for the sidebar are of stainless steel.

The 105 x 84 x 52 mm grip is fitted to the camera cage using a single ¼" screw with positioning lug and tightened with a knurled thumbwheel. The position of the sidebar can be adjusted using the included Allen key to ensure that the camera base and the grip base are level. After use the Allen key can be stored away in a slot in the grip and secured magnetically. It can be a bit tricky getting the Allen key all the way into the slot but once there it is not going to come out by accident. On the top of the grip is a cold shoe mount and ¼" screw mount and on the bottom two more ¼" mounts. There are also small slots top and bottom on both sides for a lanyard strap or secondary grip.

That is it really. The build quality is fine and the grip is easy to attach and remove. I use it with a monitor screen attached to the cold shoe mount and this works well, keeping the camera profile low as well as adding additional stability and making it easier to manipulate the camera.

For me this is a very decent buy for the budget price.
