Avida Bachar stands at a bullet-riddled door still stained by his son Carmel's blood, nearly a year after the 15-year-old was killed during Hamas' Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel. In all, the kibbutz he lives in, a tight-knit community just three miles from Gaza, lost about a tenth of its roughly 1,000 residents that day. Lauren Anthony reports.
