As part of this week's episode of "this week in social media" , we report that meta joins 49 other signatories, in calling for the EU to lessen AI Regulations, so it isn't "left out" of the AI race.

On 19th September social media reported, “Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is one of 49 signatories to a new open letter that urges EU regulators to loosen the reins on AI development in order to avoid the region falling behind the rest of the world in the broader AI race.”

Meta’s and the others view, is that the EU will be fall behind on how amazing or not, a lot of their AI modes are going to be, however there is wider reporting of using not be very happy with their posts to Meta's platforms being used to train a set of “data models”

This also comes as a time, where the stock market starts to question if and when the AI wave is suddenly going to have a rise in power.

Meta’s Argument seem to be

““Europe faces a choice that will impact the region for decades. It can choose to reassert the principle of harmonization enshrined in regulatory frameworks like the GDPR so that AI innovation happens here at the same scale and speed as elsewhere. Or, it can continue to reject progress, betray the ambitions of the single market and watch as the rest of the world builds on technologies that Europeans will not have access to.””

I guess it brings up the question: what side is “better” , growth at all costs, or making sure we grow in the right way!

The social media today report did end the report with

“There are fair notes on both sides, but I’m not sure that I agree with corporate entities applying public pressure to regulatory groups, in order to benefit their interests. “

That leads back into the “power that big tech” has over how the world is changing!
