Damian Lewis and Kelly Macdonald are sinking their teeth into a strange suburban lifestyle.

PEOPLE has the exclusive first trailer for The Radleys, which stars Lewis, 53, and Macdonald, 48, as parents Peter and Helen Radley who happen to also be vampires — and must reveal their family's secret to their teens.

The trailer teases audiences by showing the characters' daughter Clara (Bo Bragason) fending off threatening advances from a boy in the woods. To her own surprise, she kills him and feeds on his blood.

After the death, the parents reveal to Clara and son Rowan (Harry Baxendale) that the whole family are vampires who try to live normal lives, and Lewis' character calls his estranged brother Will (also played by Lewis) to help their daughter avoid the authorities.

Can a family hide their biggest secret? “The Radleys” follows one household facing a unique challenge, vampirism. It’s only a matter of time before the customary urges take over. This seemingly idyllic family is facing an unenviable choice. Giving in could mean the end of everything they’ve worked for while immense hunger could lead to their demise. The upcoming film — described as a dark comedy thriller — hails from director Euros Lyn and screenwriter Talitha Stevenson. Lyn has helmed episodes of “Torchwood,” “Sherlock,” “Broadchurch,” and “Happy Valley.”

Set in a quiet, suburban English town, the film charts the story of the Radleys, who to their neighbours are as ordinary as they come. But beneath the surface, parents Peter (Lewis) and Helen (Macdonald) are concealing a dark secret from their teenage children, Rowan (Baxendale) and Clara (Bragason). They are abstaining vampires, who choose not to drink blood despite their natural cravings, making them more and more bloodthirsty by the day. When Peter’s twin brother Will arrives on the scene (also played by Lewis), a proud, practicing vampire who openly embraces his hedonistic, bloodthirsty lifestyle, the family has to confront some home truths.
