2015 Tianjin Explosion Closeup

A legendary series of explosions at the Port of Tianjin in Tianjin, Northern China, which killed 173 people (mostly firefighters), according to official reports.

It's still unknown exactly what caused the explosion, but it's certain that there were huge stores of chemicals there (some volatile), and some stored well beyond the legal safety limits.

The impacts to China's supply chain due to the disruption was estimated at around $9 billion.
