On September 30, 2024, Missouri State Highway Patrol officers stopped a U-Haul truck for a traffic violation and discovered seven children, ranging in age from 2 to 13, confined within the cargo area. The conditions were concerning, with the area being hotter than the rest of the truck and lacking proper ventilation. Two men, Shaikiem Bristol and Musa Omar, were arrested and charged with seven counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The children were placed in the care of the Department of Family Services, and the case is currently being investigated by multiple agencies.
