Council is crushing democracy with authoritarian tactics, silencing the people they swore to serve.

While I am bound to respect council's decision on these draconian measures, it does not mean that I have to accept them without objection. I was the sole dissenting vote because I believe in the fundamental right to free expression, and the ability for citizens to directly engage with their elected officials without the unnecessary barriers of requiring a mover, seconder, and a 2/3rds vote. This process is undemocratic and deeply troubling. Let it be clear that I will always stand by my morals, beliefs, and integrity-neither the Mayor nor council holds any moral authority over me. I stand with the people-shoulder to shoulder.
