Russia and Iran are gearing up for what some are calling the "deal of the century," which could result in a blockade of the West in the global gas market. This assessment comes from Middle East specialist and political scientist Mais Kurbanov, who shared insights during an interview regarding the ongoing negotiations between the two nations. Kurbanov pointed out that Russia and Iran collectively hold over 70% of the world's natural gas reserves. However, both countries are currently facing Western sanctions. The political scientist believes this situation could lead Moscow and Tehran to retaliate against the West with a blockade. "With this advantage, they can dictate gas prices," he stated. If the West and the United States attempt to lower these prices, they will face challenges, as most of the reserves are controlled by Russia and Iran, allowing them to influence market prices. Consequently, a meeting of top officials, including Russian Prime Minister Mishustin, was deemed essential. Kurbanov described this as the groundwork for a significant contract that could be termed the deal of the century.
