A 15-year-old boy was struck by an Elyria police cruiser on September 27, 2024. The police were responding to a crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of West Avenue and 11th Street. The cruiser, with its lights activated, was pursuing the driver of a Honda Accord who had fled on foot from the scene. Unfortunately, during the pursuit, the teen was hit while crossing the street. He was taken to the hospital, and the officer involved is on administrative leave as the investigation continues
