Eating Food When There Is None!

Have you ever thought what it would be like in the future when our land is a waste land and what you would eat? What if you found food in an abandoned house? Old and dusty would you eat it?

Eating food from a can or pouch past its expiration date is generally considered safe as long as the can or pouch is not damaged, shows no signs of swelling or rust, and the food doesn't have an off smell or appearance; however, the quality of the food may decline over time, meaning it might not taste as fresh as it did when it was first purchased.

Key points to remember:
"Best by" dates are primarily about quality, not safety:
Most canned foods are commercially sterilized, so they can remain safe to eat even past the "best by" date if the container is intact.

Check for signs of spoilage:
Always inspect the can or pouch for dents, bulges, rust, or leaks before consuming food past the expiration date.
Taste test first:
Even if a can looks fine, it's always a good practice to open it and take a small taste to ensure the food is still palatable.
Consider the food type:
Some foods, like high-acid items like tomatoes, may have a slightly shorter shelf life even when canned.
