A New Mexico judge has denied Hannah Gutierrez Reed’s request for a new trial, upholding her involuntary manslaughter conviction related to the 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust.”

Gutierrez Reed, who was the film’s armorer responsible for firearms, was sentenced to 18 months in custody.

Her conviction stemmed from a live round fired from a prop gun held by actor Alec Baldwin, which also injured the film’s director.

Gutierrez Reed’s attorneys had claimed prosecutorial misconduct and discovery violations as grounds for a new trial.

Baldwin, who also faced involuntary manslaughter charges, had his case dismissed due to improper evidence handling, as reported by CNN.
