Is Pickering Council Faking Danger? See how your tax dollars are wasted on Political Theater!

With fewer than 40 attendees at Monday Night (September 23rd, 2024), council meeting, having 10 police officers on site, not to mention our in-house security officers, is nothing but a charade and blatant overkill.

I have never once witnessed anything escalate to the point of needing a police presence at our Council meetings, other than residents of Durham simply expressing their opinions and disagreeing with Council.

Even in those instances, if anyone had felt threatened, I'm confident, our security team could have handled it. Council Chambers is a place where people's voices should be heard, loud and clear, and they should be able to express differing opinions without the need for such an overblown response.
