Criminal problems require criminal solutions. While Florida Man is busy grappling with the horrific aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Oklahoma man has done an excellent job stepping up, with this odd story about a man stealing a car to attend his own court case about stealing a different car. Kody Adams was due in court on charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, and in a bit of a conundrum: the court was 30 minutes’ drive away, and no one would give him a ride. He tried asking at a local gas station, but it turns out ‘quick, get me to court, I stole a car’ is not a great line for a prospective hitchhiker. It was that point he spotted an ambulance…

To be specific, a LifeNet ambulance supervisor pickup truck, that had been left running and unattended by its owner. The law doesn’t wait, so why should crime? Adams ‘borrowed’ the car, drove it to near the courthouse, and ditched it. Unfortunately for Adams, all that asking people for a ride to court had tipped off the people that he was driving to court, and an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper was there waiting to escort him into court. He was given his day in court, escorted back home, and then booked again for unauthorized use of a vehicle. Let’s hope he doesn’t think third time’s a charm.
