Warning Labels coming to social media platforms?

As part of this week's episode of "this week in social media" , we report that 40 US Attorneys endorse a plan to add “warning labels” for social media apps!

This seems to be part of a lot of western culture or western countries cracking down on legal point of view, how our child's are using and what content they are seeing on social media.

Personally I find the fact that children are spending three hours a day on social media is really worrying, and clearly shows a larger challenge that the world is talking about at the moment, is why are children not out, with their friends, or playing video games or building a skillset etc.

In the past, there has been talk about tik Tok's algorithm, push content that the user wishes to see more of, so in personal experience with this, I can understand where the worries around mental health do come from . however in my view we need to be very careful with where the line is. And help others take personally accountable to what they are doing and watching on social media.

Again it comes back to, responsibility is it to make sure

A - Children are not on social media 3 hours per day
or
B - what are they doing on it?

A - The platform
B - The parents
C - The Government

There have been reports, questioning if it “Would that work in a social media context?” as many don’t read or understand usage agreements.

There has been talk about adding warming to, before videos as well!

Like many things, there is no “easy answer to this”, the proposal will now go to congress for further action. If and when we hear more, I will be sure to share.
But let me end this story by asking you, who do you think is responsible? The Platform, The parents, The Government.
