In this clip, Gambian Pan-Africanist Ousman Touray lashes out at mainstream media portrayals of Africa - which focus exclusively on the negative news coming out of our continent, and never highlight the good, uplifting stories. He says it’s critical that we have our own, homegrown media outlets putting out both sides of the picture - not ignoring the bad, but also highlighting positive aspects. This is essential, he says, not only for the sake of truth and balance but to attract investment into Africa - not from foreigners, but from Africans themselves. It’s certainly a message we here at African Stream take very seriously. Is he right? (And how are we doing?)
