The Getrag-built G50 gearbox was a significant step forward in transmission feel for the 3.2 Carrera. It provided stronger internals and a much more direct feel without extra service requirements. A transmission fluid service is all that's needed to keep the G50 gearbox going in a 3.2 Carrera, and the job is quickly done at home.

Like every modern manual transmission, fluid health is paramount to transmission health. The particular chemical compound and friction modifiers within ensure the synchro dog teeth engage smoothly and without much wear. Unfortunately, transmission fluid is often overlooked and gone unchanged for too long.
