Backpacking to Gannett Peak Wyoming via the Glacier Trail

Gannett Peak is the highest natural point in the State of Wyoming, at 13,804 feet above sea level, and is considered the second or third toughest of the state highpoints, depending upon whom you ask. We set out to climb this highpoint in mid-July of 2024 starting at the Glacier Trailhead near Dubois, Wyoming in the Wind River Range. This was a physically and mentally demanding, but spiritually rewarding five-day journey through canyons, over creeks, around meadows, across glaciers and up mountains to where the atmosphere is thinner. We traversed over 62 miles roundtrip, through grizzly bear country, with more than 10,000 feet of total elevation gain.
