Woke IGN Reporter Rebekah Valentine Doubles Down on Wukong Lies!
We all know the old saying, "You can't spell ignorant without IGN," but this situation with Rebecca Valentine goes even deeper than I could've imagined. What's up, guys? Welcome to another episode of 8-Bit Eric! Today, we're diving into the mess surrounding Rebecca Valentine and her refusal to admit that she lied in her IGN article, which slandered the developers of Black Myth: Wukong, the game by Game Science.
Valentine recently retreated to the echo chamber of ResetEra to vent her frustrations, showing exactly who she is—deeply entrenched in her own indoctrination. Despite the growing backlash, she continues to defend her claims, doubling down rather than apologizing. It's clear that she won't acknowledge the mistakes in her reporting on Black Myth Wukong, and her refusal to take accountability only makes the situation worse.
Valentine's response on ResetEra was cringe-worthy, to say the least. Instead of admitting there might be another perspective, she stands firm, claiming that she and her team checked and verified everything meticulously. This, despite the fact that Kiun, who translated the content, doesn’t speak native Mandarin and likely mistranslated key parts of the story. But rather than considering this, Valentine proudly declares this as her "proudest work as a journalist." If this is her best work, it raises serious questions about the quality of her journalism overall.
Valentine's victim mentality is in full swing, as she claims she's being harassed online simply for being called out on her errors. But let’s be real—most people are just asking her to admit there’s another way to interpret the Black Myth Wukong story. Yet, she remains in denial, blocking everyone on social media and retreating to ResetEra, where she finds support among like-minded individuals who are just as committed to their own narratives as she is.
IGN, meanwhile, continues to support Valentine and her article, even though it's been proven that Black Myth: Wukong is a wildly popular game with millions of concurrent players. Despite trying to slander Game Science, IGN is now all-in on promoting the game, proving once again that money talks louder than integrity.
Valentine's actions, coupled with IGN's contradictory stance, have only served to further discredit both the journalist and the publication. IGN had a chance to apologize, but they've gone too far to turn back now. Instead of admitting their mistake, they’re doubling down, just like Valentine.
And this is where we find ourselves in 2024, with gaming journalism losing credibility by the day. The situation is a mess, and it’s no wonder that YouTubers are the ones holding these so-called journalists accountable.
