Why Baptists ARE NOT Protestants

The belief that all Protestant churches are essentially Catholic in origin stems from their shared historical roots and theological foundations. Protestantism began in the 16th century with the Reformation, when figures like Martin Luther and John Calvin sought to reform the Roman Catholic Church. However, the churches that emerged from this movement retained many core aspects of Catholicism, including a hierarchical structure, infant baptism, and various sacramental practices.
