The Bajra Sandhi Monument is a Balinese People's Struggle Monument to pay respect to the heroes and is a symbol of the preservation of the Balinese people's struggle from generation to generation and from era to era and a symbol of the spirit to maintain the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. This can be seen from the 17 steps at the main door, 8 grand pillars inside the monument building, and the monument that towers 45 meters high. The location of this monument is in front of the Office of the Governor of the Bali Province which is also in front of the Bali Provincial DPRD Building Niti Mandala Renon, precisely at Puputan Renon Square. This monument is known as "Bajra Sandhi" because its shape resembles a bajra or bell used by Hindu priests in reciting the Veda (mantra) during religious ceremonies. This monument was built in 1987, inaugurated by President Megawati Sukarno Putri on June 14, 2003. The purpose of building this monument is to immortalize the soul and spirit of the Balinese people's struggle, as well as to explore, maintain, develop and preserve Balinese culture to be passed on to the next generation as capital to step forward in a world that is increasingly full of challenges and obstacles.
