Clanging Noise Found.. One Of Them Anyway. Shock Absorber Broken But In An Odd Way. Works, but Broke

The upper part of the shock broke right under the mounting and let the upper tube clang. The shock works fine but the noise has got to go. I was told, and it's true, to never heat or weld a shock and they are not so expensive that replacing them is costly. This is on a 1957 GMC 100 but that is not really important other than notice the odd angle they run the shocks. I guess they didn't want them hanging down too low and the bed was in the way on the high side.
