On March 31, 2024, two Hightstown police officers, Kenneth Larsen and Daniel Abbatemarco, responded to a distressing 911 call about a choking baby. The situation was tense as officers arrived on the scene, with a baby struggling to breathe and the sound of a woman crying in the background, captured on police body camera footage. Officer Larsen quickly sprang into action, performing the infant Heimlich maneuver on the child. Moments later, the relief of the parents standing nearby can be heard as the object causing the baby to choke was dislodged, allowing the baby to breathe again. "She’s breathing, she’s OK," an officer is heard saying as the baby began to cry, a reassuring sign that the child was safe. Medical professionals checked the baby afterward and confirmed that she was in good condition.
