The Adventures of Philip Marlowe: The Red Wind

Originally aired September 26th, 1948

Starring Van Heflin as Philip Marlowe, based on the story by Raymond Chandler. A red hot wind leads Marlowe to murder.

This particular episode is the first of the NBC Series (which aired before the CBS series).

The Adventures of Philip Marlowe was a radio series featuring Raymond Chandler's private eye. Despite the show's popularity, it had no sponsor for most of its run (though Ford Motor Company and Wrigley's Gum sponsored it at times). Raymond Chandler had no connection with the scripting of the program, and was reportedly "moderately pleased" with Gerald Mohr's portrayal of Marlowe.
