Welcome to DeSantisland! DEI and the Failing Public Schools of Hernando County, part 1
If you like this hard hitting three minute take down of a horribly failed school district, please remember to 'like' and 'subscribe'.
Hernando County, FL School Board Meeting 9/24/24: Diane Liptak addresses the new 'Kumbaya' attitude of this failed School Board, since the departure of former Superintendent Stratton and his replacement with fellow traveler and sycophant, Interim Superintendent Ray Pinder.
The District is still failing. The 2024 State Test Scores are in the bottom third of the State and the great educational grift, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), remains a major theme—both in the District’s so-called ‘Strategic Plan’ and in the literature produced by our current Counsel’s law firm which, if anything, has proven that DEI hiring, within the legal arena, leads to incompetent counsel.
The kids can't read, write or solve for 'X', but they all know their transgender pronouns!
Transcript of Ms. Liptak's Speech:
Good evening, Diane Liptak, Hernando Beach. I spent a good while reading the Weiss-Serota Managing Director's message, and their unifying principles, and their DEI statement, none of which seems to be available online anymore, though you do get a 404 error that pops up.
Prior to reviewing the proposed Hernando County School strategic plan for 2023-2028, a breakdown of the Hernando County School state test scores for 2023-2024 and 2022-2023, various correspondence between Mr. Benson and yourself, and Mr. Delaney, and transcripts of the last several meetings and workshops, I'm not surprised to note the DEI seems to be a unifying theme in the documents and strategic plan, as well as in the 25, 26 magnet program procedures. (See equity rather than merit or equality).
Some things just don't change. I thought, after that fine speech last meeting, that we were all unifying under a common goal—but not this one that promulgates the very ideals that ex-Superintendent Stratton promoted. So this is what interim superintendent Pinder promotes too? Is this the same plan that, was it Ms. Duval, tendered some time ago, more intrinsic DEI? And in your speech about respect in August, Shannon, you never mentioned, maybe you just missed it, respect for the parents and their expectations. That just wasn't mentioned at all.
Teachers and administrators are not parents, and ergo, may not impose religious or sexual ideologies upon other people's children. It's not their job. So these test scores, again, aggregate mostly below 50 percentile in the state, these numbers were downloaded from the Florida Department of Education provided data. That's failing!
Truly uninspired results for kids, most that appear to have wasted another year in the school system. The interim superintendent has his work cut out for him. Unless failure is the goal, as you stated, Shannon, on 5/9/23, the children should not be a pawn in the crossfire of your, and that was Mr. Stratton's political agenda.
The statement holds true for the agenda of the current administration and council also. In strategy one of your strategic plan, are we really thinking that meeting the state average of students as scores proficient and learning gains is acceptable. Even exceeding average shouldn't be the accepted goal when average is a failing grade. We want their personal expectations to exceed average for every child in as many subjects and matters as can be. Closing the achievement gap as measured by state metrics, strategy two, is meaningless when failing is the average grade.
Graduating students who have consistently failed across the board may meet state requirements, according to our grading system, but at least the children aware of their insufficiencies and know where to go with them. Placing failing students in advanced placement courses does earn money, but it's destructive of their confidence when failure follows failure, and you're just setting up a spiral path to continued life failure.
The students in the school system who are actually learning, making the grades, and going prepared into college are a distinct minority, but a wonder to behold. It's not the teacher's fault. (Unintelligible due to time expiration alarm and mike being cut at the same time). Sorry, but there’s no ‘Kumbaya’ this year.
