I got a text message on my cell phone this morning claiming that someone had charged my debit card over $700 for a digital camera. While checking my bank account online while speaking to the fake Amazon scammers in India I discovered that nobody had charged my account.
Once he realized I was onto his scam he hung up. NEVER CONFIRM TO THE SCAMMER'S REQUEST TO 'VERIFY' YOUR CARD NUMBER OR ACCOUNT INFORMATION OR ALLOW HIM/HER TO GAIN ACCESS REMOTELY TO YOUR COMPUTER using Google Chrome CRD (Chrome Remote Desktop).
These scams originate in India or in Nigeria. This one was from India. The number they used was 1-888-992-5028 . The text came from (567)436-0655 (Ohio number). I called back again to confront them as scammers and they hung up on me and then blocked my number. I blocked their number and reported them as spammers. I then called my bank to report this scam attempt. MONITOR YOUR BANK ACCOUNTS & REPORT FRAUD RIGHT AWAY TO YOUR BANK(S). Otherwise, banks could make you pay the charges for failure to report it in a 'timely manner'.
